Make Art. Save Art. Scholarship

Hey guys,
I'm in need of financial aid and I found this scholarship that the 5 wallpaper designs with the most "shares" will receive a prize and the grand prize is a 1000 dollar scholarship.

A share is basically using facebook or twitter to promote my art. There are two "widgets" at the bottom of the page, one for facebook and one for twitter. So if you have a blog, forum, website or anything, just get the word out.

Solid graphic design. Not as much impact as a few of the other entries, but definitely a top contender.

It looks pretty slick, although your mis-matched bokeh effect is confusing (You simultaneously have octagonal and circular 'apertures'). TAnother thing I noticed is that your image looks remarkably similar to the site it is hosted on, was this intentional or coincidental? I'm not criticising you for it, as it does work quite well, just be careful where you get your inspiration from.

I guess my design came off as too copycat-ish. I was trying to incorporate the make art save art, but if it seems too similar i might change it up a little. As for the bokeh I original had circles but then i feel like it needed something else, so i gave it a splash of octagonal shapes, do you think it is unnecessary?

You could possibly change the circles to very blurred octagons, but in all honesty it is still pretty good as it is; after-all, it is likely that the majority of people won't even notice it.
