    transparent areas in PS CS3

I want to make corners on a image transparent. How do I do? Because the eraser is working like a pencil with the bvackground color instead...

    Edit: Found it. Sorry

i use the background eraser tool, but it isnt as precise.

when using the eraser tool is your image flat (1 layer) or are they multiple layers? if sure make sure to check that the layers below the one you're on doesnt have color in the spot when ur erasing.

also for future purpose when creating a new doc, set background content to transparent.

    woops just noticed your edit.

It was transparent in the beginning but when I wanted a black background on my site I filled it with black. Then I changed my mind. I didn't really noticed every tool has multiple functions...
