But on some occasions you can get them by joining the pay per action clubs. (which
unfortunately about 80% are scams).
You can likewise do some forum postings on domain name sites and when you reach the desired posting count you can then you can exchange it for the domain name.
But besides that, I don't think someone will just stand up and offer
a free domain name.

It's typically not possible to get a free .com domain name. There's usually a catch to anything you might find.

Some companies sometimes hold promotions for free domain names, although most of these would still require a credit card.

Even if you do find a site thats offering free domains (regardless of whether its from forum credits, promotions, etc...), its often only for one year and you would have to renew it the next year if you want to keep it.
