I dont like the widgets from Yahoo. I use AveDesk. That screenie is a little old but its just an example. randomtalkradio, do you have AIM or MSN?

The bar on top is called windock or objectdock ,you can get it real easy. the easiest way is ofcourse buy an apple;)
And you can get the widgets (the ipod and the calendar thingy) by downloading konfabulator
It will allow objects on ur desktop
