x10hosting's name!?

Wow, I was doing my Chemistry homework, looking at Avogadro's number (6.022 x10^23)

I noticed the x10!

x10hosting's slogan is "free hosting for the masses."

Well. Most of the time if you're using scientific notation, you have a massive number...

Did x10hosting get its name from scientific notation? (x10^#)?

I always thought x10 was *10.

IIRC Corey or one of the founders saw an ad for a camera with the model x10, so they used that.

Another theory

Originally, they were going for extendedhosting.com but that was already taken. They then considered x10dedhosting.com, but reasoned that the "ded" in x10dedhosting.com would attract the wrong userbase (ie, zombies and necrophiles). Thus, they dropped the ded, and settled on: x10hosting.com.
