Best Domain Registrars?

Which domain registrars do you recommend for domain purchase? I am not talking about buying 12month hosting with a free domain package. But purchasing a personal domain only.
The ones i have seen are 123reg, namecheap. I noticed that one registrar charges more for the same domain compared to others.

I use internetbs.net for .com domains. You can go with godaddy also . This is also good.

I did register a domain wtih them but i have read too many complaints about them regarding problems with domain transfer and other issues etc. But i guess you get that with any hosting providers.

Since Google has partnered with Godaddy on domain registration, i noticed that buying a domain from Google is cheaper as it offers free privacy on WHOIs database. Just a $10 standard fee (+tax).
If you buy direct from GoDaddy you have to pay extra on this feature.
They have Deluxe and Protected plans (with few extra features though).


Also, i bought a domain which is similar to another. Will i be penalised?
I noticed that some domains are similar to others apart from the extension of .com, .net, .info

I bought the domain tweak2.com at internetbs.net at $5, for first time registrations through domainlazy.com, Renewal will be $7 or sub sequent another registration will be $7.

I got domain privacy freely. no extra charge.

Regarding the similar domains it depends on their policies. Generally not penalized until you are not a threat to them like damaging their reputation etc....

I just compared prices on both google and internetbs.net and noticed that the latter is cheaper. About £4.24 which is approx $7. When you mentioned internetbs, i found it a bit amusing as 'bs' is used in forum for a derogatory term. I may consider this company in the future, thanks.

Maybe it doesn't matter as much if it's a small website/company compared to larger organisations like google, yahoo who would try to take action.

i use godaddy , although i do admit that i really get botthered when buying a new domain there, they just fill your screen with advertisements and offer, they say "namecheap" is good and better. never tried it personally though

I just checked out a domain from the link you posted and find the price more expensive than the ones i have come across.
