What're the conditions for the backup & restore feature? E.g. how long? chance of success, can you do it manually? And what're your experiences with it?

What're the conditions for the backup & restore feature? E.g. how long? chance of success, can you do it manually? And what're your experiences with it?

Backups of files are created once a month, and backups of databases are created daily. The chance of success of backing up to a previous point that actually exists is 100%. Backups are done automatically, but restorations must be done manually. I've never had to use it before myself, because I always keep my own local personal backup copies of all my important files.
