Do you know any software to create favicon for my website

I want to change my Forum icon but Adobe photoshop don't let us to save with ico extension. Do you know any software for that. I'll give preference to open source software.

I recommend IcoFX: http://icofx.ro/

It lets you edit the different images of the ICO file. I recommend creating your icon in Photoshop, then converting it to ico with Icofx.

I would suggest you not to download any plugin. Instead, you can save your file as normal (let's say png) and convert it online. For example here http://tools.dynamicdrive.com/favicon/ (first result in google searching 'favicon generator')
This one allows png and gif conversions.

And everything with no downloads needed I think it's much more convenient and of course easier.

I'd second miguelkp. Save it first as an high-quality png, then convert it online.
