How do you count page views?

Hi everybody,
I've seen on this forum a few times now that people sometimes put up a site's unique views and total views per day. I'm curious, how is that counted, and how can I get at that for my site, so I know what kind of traffic I'm getting?

Also you can try the Webmaster tool from google.

You can use Counters from GoStats.com are very easy to put on your website. You don't even need to learn HTML. All you have to do is signup, recieve an email, and then get a couple lines of HTML code that you will insert into your webpage to display the counter. It's that easy! click here to sign up!
