You don't really learn crap from it. Its just like a automatic game creation but you have to add and edit codes.

Learn C++, C, and Python, then call yourself a "Game Developer". ;-)

dark basic, a very easy language with many pre-loaded gfx if anyone is into game making and doesnt have very much skill (n00bz) this is a VERY good place to start

i use gamemaker and actually you can make 3d games...u have to pay for the full version though...and i can code! just with like regular basic, but i cant get python and stuff to work on my pc and the language is funkified and i cant get c++ editors and stuff where r they? and besides the dark basic stuff IS REALLY CONFUSIN'!!!its nuthin like basic! but i bought a book with somthing that has suttin called blitzbasic i think so w/e

I agree with swirly. You can make 3D games but you need to pay. But Game Maker is not a stupid program. It has built in programming language called GML (Game Maker Language). Game Maker comes biltin with DirectX Support. Also there is no confution when programming. THe neet feature of GML is that you can use DLL to extend the functions. (Some thing that is undoable in DarkBasic) and also the DLL must be made in language like C++ so there more functionality than you think.

I'm a game devloper, well I at least develop games, and I use GM.

GM is very powerful, when used right. People who say it's all crappy 2D nonsense are uneducated fools. I mean, what you expect anybody to learn to make professional 3D games before they make anything else?

I must say though, it is highly "abused". Too many people throw together crappy games without recources from the internet. However, some of us program professional quality to a great degree. If you think that GM can't make professional games, well that just means you don't have the skill to make professional games with simple software as this.

I guess it's all just relative to what you do with it.

However somebody tell me, what is this Python? I've never heard of it. Is it a general programming language or is it specific for game design.
