downloadind file issues ... suffix on filename

Not sure where I should place this topic so I'll try here. Sorry if this was already covered.

I'm downloading instructional video clips posted on forum. So for example:
(fictitious link)

http://www.instructionSteps.avi.001
http://www.instructionSteps.avi.002
http://www.instructionSteps.avi.003

Now when I attempt to open them, Window Player doesn't recognize these files. I tried removing the suffix numbers (e.g. "001) so the file is instructionalSteps.avi but to no avail.

Is there suppose to be a certain step to download or open these files?

001 002 003 extension means these files are splited into parts. You need the software which will make one file from these parts.

Download this software http://www.afterdawn.com/software/de...rs/hjsplit.cfm

Open it and press join, Then locate these files and you are done.

I've been dabbling with computers since Window 3.0 and I don't even know about splicing these files together.
