How does the subdomain thing work?

Subdomain is part of existing domain, but behaves as full featured domain.If you have any domain like www.example.com then you can have subdomain like mail.example.com or anything.example.com.
Cpanel has clear instructions about creating subdomains in subdomains section.

How do you create a subdomain for the x10hosting account

When you register with x10 hosting they give you a subdomain name like you.elementfx.com, If you added your own domain at the time of registration or later, you can create a subdomain. For this just go to cpanel and select subdomain section and create a subdomain with the name of your choice.Then go to File manager and you will see a new folder in /home/yourname directory.This new directory should match to the name of your new subdomain.Here you can upload files specific to this domain.

Sorry, I was hoping I could create muliple subedomins within my free x10hosting account, didn't relize or understand subdomains I guess
