suggestion for user friendly vid editor apps for Linux

Not sure if I'm in the right category but ...

I just installed Linux (Ubuntu) and zillions of free apps. What's do you guys recommend for a user friend video editing app just to modify a clip?

You know how Adobe PhotoShop is a bit on the learning curve while something like "Paint" is fairly easy to use for beginners. Well I want a "Paint" like apps to work on vid clip so I could place in Facebook, MySpace or YouTube. I just need it to fade in / out, text and to splice clips, nothing fancy.

    thanks in advance.

Thanks, I figured that. Guess I'm gonna have to read up on each.

then again, I'm really proficient at Adobe PhotoShop (Window) and getting the hang with GIMP.

    thanks for the link.

I would actually recommend running Windoze in a vm for this.
