silly question but do you control the colour of your forums font? you may find that it is set to black and that is why you can't see it

There are many possible reasons
1. This theme might be not installed properly please reinstall and check.
2. This theme might be not a proper theme and have bug in it.
You can select default theme till you didn't find any good and bug free theme.
Note: I am considering you the site administrator.
