I also agree...a bit to big. But I know what you mean because there is a lot of "emo" people in our school.
There is a tutorial on Good-tutorials.com (Look!) And it shows you how to make realistic blood.

I think you should add a little more blending more than just plain red and black. I'm sure you'll get more of a feel to all the stuff once you get used to the program you're using

The white edges around the red stuff (presumedly blood) makes it seem like you copy and pasted it from some other image onto a black background. Although I am one un-emo kid, it isn't a bad sig.
