I have a network that im trying to get running.
i have win server 2003 installed
i have another 3 pcs with xp pro on them.
all connected with lan cables and through a router with internet.
How to i connect them so that it connects via the server?
I dont understand the dns, hostname, netbios and all of the ips etc.
Is there a tut on this (i have allready read up on google but theres no much junk)

Im setting it up at home, then at work that has a few extra computers.

How do you want it to work ? Just like a home network that shares internet and can access each others files or ? Or do you only want it to work via the 2003 server? If so you'd have to setup the domain and usernames on the server; You would then assign permissions to the users or create a usergroup.

The normal home network generally works better while using the server for firewalls\intensive software\downloading but not for authentication unless you really have a reason to use it for that.

you'll also need to setup dhcp on the 2003 server if you want all the computers to acsess internet through that computer (unless you want to make ips manually, )

Question Re: Windows Server 2003 Stand.

    Sorry about the slow reply.
I have set up the domain, all working and internet is fine.
    I have a new problem.
Slow logins, (delays in login and applying personal settings screen)
and also how to get roaming profiles to work.
So that everyones is the same and it doesnt slow the network down.
Does any one know how to fix these?
    thanks
