DVD RW not working :(

My DVD player on laptop seems to read CD's ok, but when it wont play DVD's... I updated the firmware, it worked once but then it went back to n ot working with DVD's again...

Anybody help?

I know most CD players won't play CD-RWs, so maybe the same applies to DVD players, but it also depends on how knew the DVD player is. I don't know much about DVD burning but with CD burning only recently (past year or two) have CD players been made with the capability of playing RWs.

If your laptop is older then 2 years, then it most likely will not play DVD RW's

it is a dvd drive, it used to read them. and now randomly doesnt. i think the model name iiiis... QSI DVDRW SDW 041

Are you sure you updated the firmware correctly ? Is it the latest version from the vendor ?

the 1st time i updated the firmware it read the DVD once, and then didnt work again. No i dont have Nero thingy. In only really wanna read the disk so i can get some stuff and install some progs that are on it...

Make sure it's not the DVD, try it in another DVD drive
