    Red face Server Help

I have bought a dell server or work, 2.8ghz gigbit network etc
And i have windows server 2003 on it. I have a program that i need for work that is windows.

And i was thinking if i could make a work website aswell.
As running just the program on the server is a bit of a waste.
I was doing some testing, and i want to know:
    * Whats the best control panel for me (cpanel, zpanel, plesk etc)
    * run the web server on linux or windows (ill run windows server03 as main, and virtual the linux if i did use it)
    * can i use my ip, (tempory) as the domain
    So
    http://64.56.43.4 <<<-main site
    http://64.56.43.4/user
    http://user.64.56.43.4

I will get a domain name in the end, but i need to make sure its all working.
Is the a free sub-domain, that allows you to make sub domains on that.

    e.g. for x10
    www.user.myname.x10hosting.com
the user part is the clients and the myname is my name for my sub domain that i choise.

    post your links here
And also comment on the questions

    thanks guys,

You can use your router's DNS service to provide a domain like servegame or something similar to your IP. Or use .tk or another maksing service like that.

    Re: Server Help

if you use fedora core 5 or linux of any sort you can put nameservers on (on windows too) and have a domain point to it (then make the hostname)

    forgot to mention that

    Re: Server Help

x10 is run off of RHEL3 (Red Hat Enterprise 3), I like it . They currently do not make cPanel\WHM for Windows so you'd have to use Linux for that. cPanel\WHM is definitely the best I've seen for managing a server and all for you. Only downfall is all the panels usually cost $XX\mo.

I would stick to Windows as the learning curve is much, much smaller.
