Google has its own version of Facebook - Google Buzz. It is far from the possibilities of Facebook, but his popularity is growing thanks to Gmail, where it is integrated.
After all I'm still not sure that Google wants to be Facebook's competitor. At this stage If they want to start a war the will probably buy another social network instead developing its own.

i have a clue
in past 6 or 7 months, i have listened that facebook is going to the partner with yahoo officially. now facebook and yahoo are partner, whenever anybody's account on facebook got de-activated, his/her yahoo email id also will be removed.
so it may be the main reason for yahoo instead of Google :D

But its hilarious that Google being an internet ruler taking this fight so seriously that he's prohibiting users in facebook to invite or retrieve emails from their gmail account. lol

BTW, I was always a fan of orkut but as now nobody is interested in orkut then what i'll do there alone?? With the fall of orkut i left social networking. now i only use facebook for my website promotion.

and see, i can't call my friends cause i can't import contacts from gmail.
