i know its not very good to host off your computer so im not gonna do that. but what i was wondering was how people like corey do it. like "rent" servers out from people. but if i just rent a server from the planet (if i ever got enough money) then am i all set? i mean do i have to go out and buy other stuff like cpanel or what? how do i set that stuff? im just trying to figure this out so i can do it when i get a little bit older. cause maybe ill have some more money.

they should have all that set up, cpanel should be included in the cost / month

You need a lot of skills, e.g. to manage cpanel and work with clients and know html, php etc

being a webhost needs knowledge. And it helps when you have a skillful and dedicated team like x10's team of admin and mods. Because apart from giving people hosting you need to be ready to help them sort out the problems.

Hmm... maybe you think that being a webhost is easy money. Just go out, get a host then get ads on your hosting then wait for money to come it? Easy come, Easy go.

If you want to run the hosting off your computer, maybe you can start with XAMPP to let you have a feel of what you need to know in running a server.

Yes, but you would still need to know what ur doing or the few hurnded dollars a month is going to go down the drain.

But to manage the server your self can be very hard and it would cost a few hurndred dollars just to run your connection, remember its not just adsl prices...

I wouldn't put a reseller in that category of being that expensive, they only cost around 20USD a month if you get a good one.

That wouldnt last long though, remember it reseller so you need like 200Gb storage, and heaps of bandwith not just the old cheap plans.

yes i know it is alot of work and i also understandits not easy money. i was wanting to research it before i started thats why i asked.i was thinking bout being a reseller. i found a site featured in a magazine (that i dont want to mention on x10) thats pretty cheap but kinda crappy but its something to start on....
