    Blocking everything?

Ok, my school has gone to far. They have now officially blocked PCRiot. This makes me mad. But what I dont get is that they block things on search engines, and when you look up God it gets blocked, but satan does not. And some times if you search for the right thing, it will say Filtered - Category: Education....WTF WE ARE AT SCHOOL! ARGHHHH!!! But anyways my point is, what other ways are there to get around filters? I know about proxies, sites to which I will not link here. And also about secure connections (adding a s to make it https://) and on Open Support, I saw some people talking about using programs that allow you to plug in a flash drive and browse at your leisure, and then just unplug the drive and no traces are left. Also I heard about people using a linux live CD, or even a high power WRL connection. Can anyone shed some light?

I believe if you just plug in a Flash Drive with your own browser on it or something it shouldn't be affected.

Other than that I aint quite sure. As the only other thing I can think of is proxies.

    Re: Blocking everything?

I've tried bypassing the blocking system at my school, and nothing works. I learned that they had the internet running so it went from the modem to the blocking system computer (mabey I should just turn it off) to the linux server (where I get to do whatever I want to cause I'm the only person good with windows and linux in the entire school) and finally to the windows and linux machines. That's probably not by passable right?

Try remote desktop with your home pc.

All I know is that my college is very aggressive with their blocking (so aggressive that half the time it blocks sites you are REQUIRED to view for some classes), and they missed remote desktop.

As evidence that it's working here? X10 is blocked at college, and I'm posting this via RDP. College pc is remote desktoping my home pc, all so I can post here

In our school everything goes through the proxy server before even reaching the internet. Any traffic not HTTP gets blocked, and also everything UDP also (So no games or anything). The blocking isn't stupid -- search for PhProxy in google and go onto the 20th page and youll get some proxies that are not blocked. Be warned, do not enter login info over these proxies, some may log it all.

They've probably blocked searching for phproxy (in fact, anything containing the word proxy). That might work for some people, though.

People are better off not trying to get around it. I went to Juvenile Detention Center for that kind of stuff when I was in middle school.

At the school I'm at currently, the teacher periodically checks each person's screen from her computer so you wouldn't be able to do much anyway. If she sees you on something she'll close it out without ever walking over to you.

First of all, those people talking about the flash drive would only be right if the software was on the computer. More likely, the internet connection is routed through a school server, which filters what it sees fit. As for the Education blocking, there are presets you can set for the filtering software, but it generally comes set. Also, it is more likely that keywords, not websites, are filtered. So, if you search Education and an immoral site, for whatever reason, comes up, it will block the page as it has a link to a bad site. Again, the linux Live CD or anything else will only work if it is onboard computer software, which is not very likely. Proxies won't work.

    Re: Blocking everything?

they dont block by just keywords. to me it seems more like meta tags. even though pcriot doesnt have any i thought....but one reason i think they might actually block by keywords also is that on google i can type in game, and it is blocked, yet if i type in games then it is not..
