    How much would you recommend Vbulletin?

    How much would you guys recommend Vbulletin as a good deal and a trust able software. Like a good bargain for the $160.00 for lifetime with $30 dollar updates.

    If i had the money i would get it. It is one of the best forum softwares out there. Alot of the big game company's use it. You could also look at IPB.
    IPB
    $149
    * 6 months support/upgrades
    * 30 days phone support
    * 2 business day ticket response
    * 5 day major version upgrade turnaround
    * Minor version upgrade via easy upgrade pack
    * One active installation + one test installation
    * After 6 months: $25 renewal option to access upgrades and ticket support*

    VB
    $160.00
    Along with this license, you will receive one year of free updates.
    Beyond the first year, you will have to pay a nominal fee, currently $30, to obtain updates for an additional year.

    Also may I add, as RogueDOC didn't, with vBulletin, you may have a test install, but it's confusing. If say you had the forums installed at http://www.example.com/forums/, the "testvb" must be located at http://www.example.com/forums/testvb/, but also must contain a .htaccess file preventing public access except to the people you allow to use it. By naming the folder 'testvb', the vBulletin Licensing Server will say that it's a legal running board, inside of the main board for testing purposes.

    I would recommend vBulletin, as it's cheaper, faster support (30 min - 1 hour) ticket response.
    Thanks,
    Brandon Long

    From what I've seen/used, I would say Vbulletin is the best paid forum software. Overall, I like phpBB best, though - I find it easier to use, and has more mods/features and themes.

    I wouldn't recommend it to the point where I would have to personally pay for it; whatever is free is great for me! I'd save that money towards something better IMO

    Most of the mods/features that are available to phpBB 3-rd party are the standard features in vBulletin, it's very powerful put of the "zip".

    Until phpBB 3. Now a ton of the Vbulletin features are standard, but of course there are still plenty that aren't. I'm not complaining though, why complain about something that is free?

    I think vBulletin is well worth it because of its advanced functionalities that no other forum softwares capable of. If I had the spare cash, I would definitely choose vBulletin.

    I still prefer IPB for its functionalities and simplicity.

    I think there is also a licence where you pay an extended fee and get all the updates for life - at least there always used to be.
