Old TV Episode I Can't Remember

I doubt many people on this forum are old enough to remember this, but I figure I'll ask anyways.

When I was younger (8 or 9) I remember seeing an episode of a TV show where the main character was trying to solve a crime. One of the clues to the crime was hidden in a wall. This wall, located outside, had a tile pattern on it, and the cop(?) found the correct tile because it didn't fit the pattern of all the other tiles. I think he/she found a key hidden behind the tile.

I believe it was an episode of Dragnet, but I could be wrong. Does anyone else remember this episode, and know what show it belonged to?

Let me clarify. I saw this show when I was 8 or 9. It was an old show then, and that was almost 15 years ago.
