    Multi-IM Software

Currently, I use Trillian for accessing the IM programs I use ( ICQ,MSN,Yahoo,AIM ) ... but I am hoping to find another program that may be better to use than Trillian.

    Anyone have suggestions??

    Re: Multi-IM Software

Concerning a multi-protocol IM client, Trillian is probably the best. I tried Trillian for a while, but thought it was too bloated, so I scrapped it. For a lightweight IM client, check out meebo.com.

It's not what you asked about, but I swear by it. It's AIM only, but it is small as hell and doesn't have any stupid unnecessary features. AIM Lite:

Hm, would you prefer AIM Lite over an add-on like AIMutation? All I need is tabbed chat windows!

I used to use Pidgin until I started testing trillian astra. Pidgin is a nice, small, and fast client. I highly suggest you take a look at it.

It used to be called gaim.

Because AIMutation is still an addon for a bloated version of AIM. AIM Lite has tabbed windows, file transfers, fonts, profiles, avatars and invisibility. That's about it. While running, AIM Lite uses about 8MB of memory, much less than even a slimmed down version of AIM (and especially Triton which is an abomination).

    Re: Multi-IM Software

Thanks Chougard - I actually ran across it and am testing it out. It seems nice, but not really what I am after.
Trillian is nice, I do have to say, but I guess after a while, I got bored with it and wanted to find something new.

Does this AIM lite do multi-platform ( Yahoo,MSN,ICQ,etc ) or just AIM? ... I am trying to cut the clutter from my taskbar ... and I did look at that Meebo, but its online based ... which means I'd have to keep a window open ( again, must be part of my family genes - I hate extra clutter )

I found a few others, but forgot to save the website to check them later.

    Re: Multi-IM Software

I personally use Gaim Portable, very convenient as I carry it along on my USB stick, though there's a non-portable version
    Edit:
Oops, just discovered it's now called http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/pidgin_portable ... Pidgin portable, gotta get the newest version:lockd:
