    Knee Surgery

A few weeks ago, I fell on the basketball court and had torn my ACL ligament in half, as well as broke off most of the socket that holds the knee together (miniscus or something like that). Yesterday, I went into surgery, where they cut off a large piece of one of my tendons and used it to make the new ligament, and they stapled my miniscus together completely. Needless to say, this hurts. ALOT. So I went home. At night, suddenly, everything below the knee surgery site became 100% numb. I can still move my foot around (though it's difficult) and my foot is the right pink color, so it's still getting blood. Yet....it's 100% numb. On top of that, I am getting naucious and have a 101.5 fever (which probably means infection).

Needless to say...I'm terrified! Please just wish me luck on this >.< I think I'll need it. I'm going to the doctor again to have him try to find what's wrong with my leg.

I am very sorry to know that you suffered an injury and on top of that a surgery, I was wondering where you had gone since you were a such a regular member. I wish you luck with this and my prayers are with you. Good Luck and God speed. Looking forward to you being back.

    Re: Knee Surgery

My best wishes are with you.

    If it helps:
Remember the human body is truly amazing. It can repair and get itself up and running from nearly any situation. Added to that, today medical science has progressed so much that every injury can be recovered from.
It is important just to keep faith, have patience and courage. Never loose hope and remain positive.
Remain positive and believe that you are going to recover, and you WILL recover. I am confident you will.
note: Being positive does help, its called the Placebo effect.

To ease the tension, try distracting yourself with music, movies, books or computer games. Research shows computer games to be the most effective, followed by movies.

Once again, all the best and get well very soon!

“Courage consists in the power of self-recovery.”

Most likely its some side effects to either anti-biotics or painkillers they have given you.

When i had surgery they injected Local Anesthetic into my knee joint, and it kicked in about 6 hours later (Injected it into a hollow space or sommint... they told me but i have forgotten).

If it continues more than 24hrs go back to the hospital.

Hectic man. That sounds really painfull. Damn, ouch...

Could be as Micro says, or it could be they damaged a nerve or something. Either way just be posative, smile and try and keep it cool. Would rather not wish you luck, cause thats almost admitting defeat.
Would rather be posative in saying you gonna get through it and when its over it will become a memory and a bloody good story.

I can relate to pain... Had a tooth with an absus for at least 2 months, it made me really grumpy and a ****ty person to be around (props to my lady for putting up with it). Only got up the balls to go to the dentist a week back, put me on antibiotics and then extracted it yesterday (could of had root canal, but had one before and its long and painfull).

    Re: Knee Surgery

I went to the doctor's today just to get the numbness checked out. He told me that they had my leg in a clamp for three hours, so my leg was near-dead by the time they actually took it out. That is why it is asleep - it's still getting its blood. Like when you sit on your leg for 5 minutes, it usually takes 2 minutes to get the tingles off em. He says I should have all the feeling back in my leg by the end of the week. He tells me that I should rest with a pillow under my foot and my leg stretched out to make it come as close to locking as possible, so it'll heal that way. That is the most painful way too >.< Go figure.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. I won't be too regular until I feel a little better (at least good enough to scoot myself upstairs where my computer is located).
