    Fed-Up with Dial-Up

I'm about to just take a hammer and start smashing my computer, even thought it's not my computer's fault that it has to be restricted to dial-up. I never realized that all of the ISPs could be so inconsiderate. Not a single one provides anything faster than miserable 28.8 kb/s speeds where I live. And the really sad part is that everyone living 30 yards away from me can enjoy blazing-fast Verizon FIOS. I personally know no one that even uses dial-up anymore. So could some people give me some tips on either how to bear living with dial-up or how to persuade Verizon to extend their copper wires or whatever. And please don't recommend satellite internet because it is way out of my price range.

BUT THE ABSOLUTE WORST PART IS THAT VERIZON, OUR HOME PHONE AND DIAL-UP PROVIDER, KEEPS MAILING US INTIMIDATING FLYERS TELLING US TO UPGRADE TO THEIR "BLAZING FAST" FIOS WHEN IT ISN'T EVEN AVAILABLE. SO WHATEVER YOU DO, SHOW NO COMPASSION TOWARDS VERIZON.

Oh by the way, how much do you pay for your dial-up? I pay around $15/per month for my dsl. Yes and its from verizon.

If you have an internet addiction, dialup is not the way to be! You need a faster internet for your craving needs like cable internet or broadbrand.

If you are using slower dial up connection you are wasting your time, money and effort.Switch to a DSL or broadband.

Tell me your current location and the budget you have to spend on your internet connection.

    iam currently spending Rs 250/- per month(i.e. about 6.5 USD).And i have a band limit of 1GB/month.

    Re: Fed-Up with Dial-Up

NO ONE SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND THAT NOBODY PROVIDES ANYTHING OTHER THAN DIAL-UP WHERE I LIVE. IF THEY DID, I WOULD SWITCH IN A HEARTBEAT.

I realize that Verizon is charging $12 for DSL while they are charging $20 for dial-up. I would switch, but I can't!!
