I wanted to purchase a domain, and I browse at namecheap, godaddy and few others. i notice some of them offer private domain registration at very cheap rates e.g. 1and1, on the hand, godaddy charged private domain registration at a price. Surely, there must be some difference, can anyone advise, is there any caveats?

You should look for a trustful registrar, so they don't come with unwanted things lately.

Dont go for cheap domains always.Sometimes they will put you in a sea alone with out any support.Godaddy may be costlier but they provide good support.

If you are really looking for a cheap domain go india domains.They are cheaper.
Search for " cheap indian domain " in google.you will find the more details.

or if you are looking for free domain you can go for co.cc
