How much to pay for staff? Web staff.

Looking for a reasonable price to pay staff. 90% of the time I offer too small. Such as Programmers and Freelancers. Or web designers. I know it depends on what it is.. let's say our very own CMS? or something. Templates? :dunno:

If you find somebody you want to hire, ask them how much they would like to be paid.
If it is too much, say "I can only give you _____ instead of ______."

Whilst I know this is little different I've just left school and been going for job interviewers. Both on the application form and at the interview they have asked how much do I think I should get an hour / what's the going rate.
Ask them - chances are they'll say something a little higher to 'normal' then offer them a little less but what they would still be happy with (if you can afford that).

Definitely. I've looked into what the minimum wage is (£3.40 for Under 18's, at a 'normal' job) and answered at around the £5 mark. One company offered £4.96 an hour, where as someone else I knew who has just started there only gets £4.80.
