.no-ip and related website hosters

When I signed up and no-ip.com I decided to choose the the name ****.hopto.org. I can access the website the website but it asks me to give it a username and password.

Can anyone one help me please?

Is this domain for something such as a home web server, or is it pointing to x10Hosting? If it's pointing for x10Hosting, can you post a screenshot?

I don't have a screen shot but I do have this: mapleforum.hopto.org

When you enter the website it authorizes you to enter a username and password. If you're gonna say to put in the username and password I have for no-ip.com I'm just gonna say it doesn't work.

Apparently the problem lies in the fact that you're trying to run a web server off of Verizon DSL. If you don't have a Business account with Verizon, they block Port 80 which is used for HTTP requests to your web server which is really only found in Verizon Eastern Division including New York City (ex-BellAtlantic areas). One of the things you should do is set the web server software to use a port like Port 85 and then make sure you forward the proper ports in your router/modem to your computer using the local LAN address you have. After, you can set up a no-ip Port 80 redirect. That password screen which I'm not getting is most likely coming from your modem, or your router depending on your setup there. And I hope for a fact that you are not double NAT'ing a modem and a router. That's a pain to fix sometimes.

Unless I'm mistaken here and you want to point this to x10Hosting servers, then you probably just have to wait for the DNS related updates to happen, but those are usually instant.

By the way, fix your latency. I should be getting A LOT lower latency than what I'm getting to your DSL connection.

Well pretty much, your site which appears to be hosted off a home computer can not be accessed for a few reasons.

1: Verizon is blocking a crutial web port used by default which is port 80 inbound. You can get the port unblocked by getting business class DSL which costs a bit, or you can change the port your software listens on.

2: A router using NAT doesn't know where the incoming data has to go to and drops the data. Port Forwarding fixes this.
