Biggest Forum.....Information

Okay, I have been wondering, and looking up some things.

I found that many people use a number of different forums directed to a number of different categories, like making money specific forums, law related forums, losing weight forums, debating forums, country specific forums, medical specific forums.....there are just SO MANY OUT THERE.

Well, I have been working on some plans for a forum design, or content layout.

This forum of mine, would be about EVERYTHING.
What does this mean?....it will contain specific categories for about, or ALMOST every thing. This is quite LARGE. And yes it will take time, to figure everything out.

I am wondering, what other people think about this. I have never seen another forum out there, that had specific areas for people to post things related to specific things, I have not seen a forum out there, that lets people have their, making money, investing, medical related, quantum physics, seduction forum, natural cures forum, electronic specific forum, help with homework forum, chemistry help forum, I have NEVER seen a forum out there that had all of these all in ONE Forum, All IN ONE PLACE.

Children/teens do join a number, when I say a number, I mean maybe 5 or 6 forums where they do what they would usually do. Adults with more time are love knowledge and feeling superior join probably 10 forums, (just made up numbers based on my opinion.

Why is that? Why isn't there a forum for EVERYTHING?? Is it too vast? Is that the problem? ....or can no one spend enough time to make the layout...with the location of this category, and sub category and sub category of that category?

Or is it because the forum staff don't have knowledge to post in all these categories to make a category for them? Well, I can find people with specific knowledge in these categories to use the forum, and post what they know, everyone wants to feel superior one way or another, (I will not go in depth with how I plan to get all these categories to have a specific number of mods for those categories who can post knowledge things in their specific category or sub category they will be a mod or MAJOR contributor for.

If you can give me some feedback on this it would be greatly appreciated. Tell me if you like the idea, or tell me what is wrong with it. Do you think you have enough knowledge to be a major contributor to your specific category of expertise? Tell me what you think please.

Note: I will not release the forum web-address yet. And the forum will take out a load of free time that I have left to create, without help of course.

The forum you're working on sounds a bit like mine, though mine is just for hanging out and chatting in a sense.

I've visited your forum, it may seem like it is just like yours, but the forum I have in mind of creating, (still in the planning phase) will include EVERYTHING, every forum created by anyone else, their categories will be represented here, everything that someone can discuss will have a place on this forum.

Keep the comments coming please. The more comments, the better, I would like to know all your thoughts on this subject.

Well, you have to COVER EVERYTHING, a very large forum indeed, too much to actually do without causing the visitor to load for a long time.

I was going to do something like that but in a smaller version, like im working on Arts.

The load time would be a very large problem...is there no way to make the load time better? and still have all these things in one forum?

This load time never came to mind, and right now, doubts just started flying through my head.

Well, over some thought about this (about 5 minutes)....do you think I should create a site, that leads to all these categorized forums I have made under different names? And another question, since the loading time issue never came to mind before, is it possible to have someone register for 1 forum, and thus they can log into the other forums with the same username they made at first? And is there a way to have all the users online, be shown on the forum for all the users on all the forums, instead of just one?

Shadowmaster X, I never thought of the loading time issue, this forum idea of mine just shattered, and would have failed if the loading time does get really bad.

It's easy enough to implement. Not sure if it can do the last point though "And is there a way to have all the users online, be shown on the forum for all the users on all the forums, instead of just one?"
It does take time and effort but the rewards would be huge.

Hello John Klyne, i appreciate your idea and interest. But this world wide web is already flooded with quite a lot of forum and starting a new BIG forum from the very scratch with a few ( or no ) members will be a very challenging task.

And also i believe that we can be something, but cant be everything for everyone. I think you are talking about something like forum encyclopedia ;)


Dont worry your idea is possible, but you cant use a typical forum like PHPBB or V- Bulletin, Just have a look at mylot.com they are having a vast vast forum categories and a good member strength.

Can't deliver something for everyone that is true, or at least I have not seen someone try to accomplish this yet.

When you said forum encyclopedia what did you mean?

Mylot, does have a very vast amount of forum categories, and a good number of members to contribute to it, but not everything is offered.

Do you know what program they have used, if it was bought or not? I wouldn't mind using something close to it, but the layout of a conventional forum in my opinion would be best for this Mass Forum Related Idea I have going on in my head.

About the co,cc domain, I made one using your banner link under a reasonable name for this mass forum idea i have going on.
