Quick CSS Question (so I don't go nuts trying to figure it out): Why does the float mess up the html order of this page: http://supertwinkie.co.cc/project

What do you mean by "html order"? Comment out the float directive and the image and caption just center themselves since the align=center of the containing div takes over.
Nothing is always absolutely so.
The order is that the addthis button is placed after the link boxes. When the float is applied, the link box somehow falls out of the div container. Why?

How can I keep the link boxes 'fully' contained and display before the addthis button. I want it to look like it does without the float, but of course able to be put side by side.
Do you want the addThis box to be directly below the image, like when there is no float?

Yes.
I would use clear:both;
Something like this?
(sorry Admins, it is not in English. If you insist, I will try to provide a translation)
