Lightbulb Help with changing ASPX files into usable files in FREE account here .

    Hi all!

Please forgive me if I am doing this wrong but I am new to forums and threads, and I know virtually little about creating a website. (I am doing it only to help out my husband's uncle who is just starting a business and can not afford to pay a professional) I have read online books and help files and all sorts of things to assist me but there are some things I just I can not figure out.

Anyhow, what I need help with right now is that I am using Expression Web 4 (forgive me but I have not yet been able to figure out Adobe Dreamweaver!) and my site has been re-created a few times and I have had it up and running on here; however, I have changed the entire website to be more professional and now have 1 page that is ASPX which I cannot use on the free account here (this is just for testing, the real site will be on a paid host) and I have absolutely no idea how to change it to another format that I can use here. As I say -it is ONLY 1 page in which I use tool-tips and I had no choice but to save as an ASPX file or I would not have been able to preview the page. I have been wracking my brain over this site for mths now to give up now because of something so miniscule.

Please I hope someone can help me. Thank you much in advance. Make things terribly simple in your answer because I am a REAL NEWBIE thanks again.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, you'd have to redesign the whole thing in PHP in order to get it to work on the free services here. Expression Web supports PHP (Insert->PHP in the top menu), but the support is not nearly as robust as the support for ASP.NET (ASPX), meaning that you will need to essentially code the entire thing yourself instead of using Expression's visual editor. My advice would be to just skip the whole thing since it would probably end up being a whole lot of work with very little reward at the end -- as long as it previews fine in Expression it'll work fine on a host that supports ASP.NET

For when you do get it to a paid host, you will need to make sure that the host offers support for ASP.NET. Both the Illuminated and Premium plans on x10hosting offer ASP.NET support, and Illuminated is very cheap (only $1/month!). You can find out more about those plans here

Thumbs up Re: Help with changing ASPX files into usable files in FREE account here .

    Hi Ryan,

Thanks so much for getting back to me so quickly it is much appreciated. Because of the great services here I will definitely tell the owners of my site to invest it this hosting.

I had a terrible feeling I would run into something like this. As a beginner I have had quite the experiences creating this site in the first place!

    Thanks so much again
