How to set up forward/reverse proxy in apache?

    Hi,

I want to make an ajax call to http://localhost:5280/http-bind from http://localhost.

So for this I am making an ajax call to http://localhost/http-bind and then want it to be proxy forwarded to http://localhost:5280/http-bind

Has anyone tried this before, can someone help me with this.

I simply want when I type http://localhost/http-bind in my browser it redirects to http://localhost:5280/http-bind

    Thanks in advance,
    Imoracle

Only way I have been able to do that is using my routers IP forwarding, then using my external IP from inside the network; the router's set up with NAT loopback functionality so it works.

Not quite http://localhost/ , but close enough, maybe? Doesn't leech any bandwidth quotas that may be imposed by your ISP either.
The physics is theoretical but the fun is real.

I think you're looking for redirecion by apache. Insert following in .htaccess (Place it in the root of web directory):
    Code:
    Redirect /http-bind http://localhost:5280/http-bind
BUT I'm not sure if this works with ajax calls.

do you want the ajax call to reach the http://localhost/http-bind page and do something then redirect or do you want it to be redirected to http://localhost:5280/http-bind as soon as it reaches the http://localhost/http-bind page?

It shd reach directly to http://localhost:5280/http-bind when I fire an ajax call to http://localhost/http-bind
