    WordPress Question?

I got a question for WordPress users. I've been messing around with WordPress and messing up bad.

I installed it and reinstalled it numerous times, I am wondering if it is possible that I can have a normal website, but WordPress on my other page

[ Example: my site would be on http://thesite.x10hosting.com/
and my WordPress be on http://thesite.x10hosting.com/news.html]

    Re: WordPress Question?

You can do this, but I think it would be easier to do this:

    site: http://thesite.x10hosting.com/
    wp: http://thesite.x10hosting.com/news/

    OR

    wp: http://news.thesite.x10hosting.com/

The first method means you just have to create a folder called news in public_html and install WP there.

The second method means you need to setup a sub-domain using CPanel (which will create a folder called "news" in public_html, but it will be accessible by news.thesite.x10hosting.com)

To do it your way would require .htaccess URL rewriting, which will be very very very very difficult to accomplish what you want.

    Re: WordPress Question?

Okay, I will try this. That seems very easy.

Do you know what I mean, I don't want my whole site dedicated to a blog, but I want a blog script in addition.

    Re: WordPress Question?

Yeah, I would divide a site into separate logical sections rather than have a hodge-podge of content.

    Re: WordPress Question?

    Main: http://thesite.x10hosting.com
    WP: http://news.thesite.x10hosting.com/

Those two are working fine and the WP files are not on my Main. That is good!
Question, What is the "news" folder for again? I think its fine, not sure.

    Re: WordPress Question?

Since you used a subdomain you shouldn't need a news folder.

    Re: WordPress Question?

Never mind the " news " folder is for the First method, I did the Second Method by doing:

    Main: http://thesite.x10hosting.com
    WP: http://news.thesite.x10hosting.com/

    Thank you +1 Rep

    Re: WordPress Question?

    Thank you!

When you create a sub-domain (ie, news.thesite.x10hosting.com) you also create a folder at the same time (ie, thesite.x10hosting.com/news) although the folder could be named anything, it doesn't matter.

    Re: WordPress Question?

I like subdomains better. Really, it shouldn't make too much of a difference either way, especially since setting up a subdomain will probably mean you have a subdirectory anyways.
