There would be no requirement to contact the software owners before providing a link, but there may be benefits to doing so. Helpful reviews (not necessarily positive reviews, but well-thought-out professional reviews) may allow you (and select members of your community) the opportunity to participate in private betas as well.
Make very sure, though, that there is nothing on your site that even smells a little bit like a connection between you and the software owners unless there is an official arrangement with them. And if you are allowed to participate in private betas, pay careful attention to what you are and are not allowed to disclose to the public.
