just buy a book. nothing teahces you more thoroughly. In the beginning search for books with topics like introduction to C/C++. Programming with C/C++ e.t.c. After these you can go to more complex which deal with particular environments e.g C/C++ for UNIX, Data structures and programming with C/C++ e.t.c However, don't go for the very catchy ones like C++ in 21 days or C/C++ Now!

NB The bolded titles are the ones I used.

PHP is far more simple than C++. I learned the principles of PHP within a few days. C++ is just one giant pain in the ass as far as learning goes, but if you stick with it and you are able to learn it you can pretty much do anything you want with it (after all, it IS the "most flexible programming language"). I tried learning but I gave up after making only a few console-based mini-apps.
