How can i install Pretty url mod for SMF

I recently moved my smf powered forum to x10 hosting i've got all my mods working but the pretty url mod which requires a writable htaccess file.

The chmod seems to be disabled for htaccess file

Is there any chance to get my htaccess writable until my mod installation is complete ?

The file permissions for .htaccess can be set through Filemanager in Cpanel

or through FTP client.

I've tried to chmod the htaccess file and i'm getting the following error message from my ftp client;

Command: SITE CHMOD 755 .htaccess
Response: 550 CHMOD 755 .htaccess: Operation not permitted

i've changed the permissions using the filemanager and it worked well

The problem reappeared again i can't install pretty url mod. This time the file managers and ftp are not effective in changing permissions to my htaccess files.
