Talking about Flash 8 and AS2 and components

I want to dispatch events, but i dont want to inherit everything from uiobject or uicomponent. I've tried to dispatch events from a class, but it only works when it is extending one of the v2 components.

Does anybody knows how to use events without extending the v2 components?
