Wordpress + Semantic Mediawiki = Account Suspended

So, I just signed up a few days ago, and promptly installed Wordpress to bring my blog over to this host. Then, since I had an extra database and wanted to play with it, I installed Mediawiki. I've been making a few updates every day, installed a few extensions (most notably the Semantic Mediawiki Bundle), and not causing a huge server load (I'm the only one who ever visits either the blog or the wiki, and it's not like I scrape it every few minutes). However, this morning I found my account was suspended for "High System Resource Usage". What could possibly be running up my server time enough to suspend my hosting? Has anyone else had this problem?

    It depends on
1.how many calls to the database are you making
2.How many different mods that you put on media wiki
3.How big was your traffic at that point of time?
4.Did you use any cron jobs?

If you can be more specific on above questions, I can get an idea of what is happening.
If you want a more specific report, you might need to open a support request explaining what you would require.
As the HRU suspensions are temporary and you can unsuspend yourself 3 times, I suggest that you stop wordpress initially.then deactivate all mods and test the site by activating one by one mod.You would get to know which is causing a problem.

Re: Wordpress + Semantic Mediawiki = Account Suspended

The X10 Wiki page on high resource usage suspensions has some relevant information. In particular, WordPress is a known CPU hog. Even with very little traffic, resource usage can be high. I've heard by word of mouth that WordPress 3 isn't as bad, but haven't seen any hard numbers, nor talked with many people about it (the sample size is too small to make any real conclusions). Version 3 is still rather new, so it will probably be awhile (a long while) before X10 offers it, and even then it may still turn out to be a resource hog.

As for visitors, it's possible your site was picked up by spiders. If you're tracking visits (with e.g. Apache access logs or Google Analytics), see how many unique visitors you had.

Be sure to read all pages linked in this post; they have further information that should prove useful. When asking for help, make sure you follow Eric Raymond's and Jon Skeet's guidelines for prompt, accurate responses. Please answer any questions I ask; they're not rhetorical (probably). Any posted code is intended as illustrative example, rather than a solution to your problem to be copied without alteration. Study it to learn how to write your own solution.

Re: Wordpress + Semantic Mediawiki = Account Suspended

You are correct Mr.misson..wordpress with added plugins will load all at once on to the host. Each plugin calls once and if the number of plugins installed increases to M and the number of visitors at a same point of time is N then there are M*N calls to the system.
Huge..we need to compress css, use image sprites, compress and unify javascript files and then increase cache time if the site is not updated very frequently.
If not..test the site on freehosting and upgrade to Premium where things are going on very smoothly at a reasonable cost.
    What do you say?
