Arrow Joomla! in main directory! Help please!

    Hey guys,

I tried to install joomla! in the main directory so I could use it as my main site, however, it wouldn't install saying I have to delete the .htaccess file

Should I go ahead and delete it, or should, I install on to a subdomain, then have my main domain redirect to the sub-domain. (don't know if thats allowed)

If not could someone help me with this

    Regards,

    Hi,

if you have anything in it like denying access to certain ip's, redirects, mod_rewrite and you need them then there is nothing you can do. Otherwise delete it, however, you may be able to delete some script in joomla which checks if it is present, however, the script must be there for a reason. Thanks

There shouldn`t be any problem with the htacess file. Install in a subdomain and redirect it.
