    Some Fantastico installation errors

    Hi,
I have been trying to install some scripts using Fantastico.
When I installed Dew Code in mysite/directory .. the index page could somehow not be found, (unlike the admin. page, etc). It mentioned some internal server error.
I tried to reinstall after deleting the initial files, but I got the same error.

I gave up on that & when I tried other scripts, I keep getting this:

The installation can not be completed:

    - You chose to install in the main directory of the domain mysite.x10hosting.com, but there are conflicting filenames, therefore we can not proceed. Following filenames already exist in the main directory of the domain orbit.x10hosting.com (path="/backups/home/username/public_html/").You must manually remove these files before proceeding with auto-installation:

How do I do what is recommended?
Better still, what adjustment do I need to make in Cpanel to avoid this error. I have used cpanel over many years, but had never got this type of error message preventing scripts being installed.

    Thanks

You should either try installing the software in another directory or you will need to delete the files that are there so that you can install the software.

by default you come with a couple files in your public_html folder.

I would say, uninstall frontpage extensions(unless you use it) and then remove all the files/folders in ur public_html folder but not the folder itself. (if frontpage extensions is still installed then only remove the images folder)then it should work no problem.

    Re: Some Fantastico installation errors

    Hi,
Normally, U can use Fantastico to uninstall any of the scripts u install with it, which has always worked for me else where including here. Everything including the database are is deleted & is confirmed by fantastico at the end of the process. The file causing problems according to that error message is /backups/home/username/public_html/ & the problem is I dont see where to locate it otherwise I'd have blown it away!
As said, I have dealt with many dozen Fantastico scripts over years and dont remember having encountered this error before.
Actually after the above sentence-before continuing here, I manually deleted the directory where the script was installed + the database + username, etc & used Fantastico again.....to install it, this time in /wdirectory ... Same error.
The admin page, /wdirectory/admin/ (IN THIS CASE of the DEW-New PHP Links) can be accessed but the main page itself gives that internal error message page.

Furthermore, whereas some installations like of Tiki Wiki worked, PHP Wiki, Post Nuke & sohopro are failing, consistently giving this error

    How does one access /backups/home/public_html?
in public_html proper I dont see or understand which files they are referring to
These are the files in piblic_html

    _private
    _vti_bin
    _vti_cnf
    _vti_log
    _vti_pvt
    _vti_txt
    cgi-bin
    images
    tikiwiki
    wdirectory
    Create New File
    .htaccess 0 k
    _vti_inf.html 1 k
    postinfo.html

Which of them could be problematic??

    Re: Some Fantastico installation errors

What directory did you install it to. If you installed it to a subdirectory, you can delete that directory, remove the mysql database (and user) from cpanel and then remove it from fantastico. That should clear it right up.

Then reinstall it. If you get the same problem, rename .htaccess to htaccess.txt and post the contents here. Sometimes scripts (I had the problem with Joomla), mess up the .htaccess and it needs to be manually edited.
