    Re: SMF or PhpBB??

I would have to say that I prefer phpBB because, personally I have had experience with this program.

I wouldn't know what to say for advantages and disadvantages of the forum, so thats really it.

    Re: SMF or PhpBB??

    disadvantages of phpbb are:
have to manually add modes unless you use a really buggy mod installer
    crappy admin panel
    no support
    and to slow

    advantages:
    an rpg mod

    smf disadvantages:
no rpg mod but there is one in the making
need to use PHP my admin to restore a database(no big deal its not to often u need to do that any way)

    advantages
    fast
    really good community
    tiny portal mod
    built in mod installer

    so id go for SMF.

    Re: SMF or PhpBB??

Here is a feature list for SMF. This is with a DEFAULT install, no modifications. Speaking of modifications there are a ton of them and its automatic (no manual coding unless you use a custom theme)

As for phpbb.......I have nothing to say but I don't like it at all. :dunno:

Can you tell me what features/or control it has that SMF doesn't. Just thought I would ask.:coolugh:

I should have defined that much better. That's what I get for typing a quick response.

I meant that I find myBB easier to control in the admin section. Last time I used smf (which was a while ago, so it may have improved), I found it harder to use.

dest581, I just checked out the MyBB website and I think I might try it. I find phpBB's admin section frustrating at times. :biggthump

MyBB or SMF, phpBB is poorly written.

MyBB dosnt have that many mods or themes for it so id look into both.
    Thanks,
