    Help with DNS

How exactly could I accomplish the following:

    * Use an “ExternalAddress” of “somesimulator.somedomain.com” where you control the DNS for somedomain.com and can enter a “A Record” for ‘somesimulator.’ to your routers IP address.

    I would appreciate any help.

    Re: Help with DNS

You could use a dynamic DNS service like DynDNS ( http://www.dyndns.com ) or No-IP ( http://www.no-ip.com ) - even if you don't have a Dynamic IP its by far the simplest solution for one of two entries.

Other than that you'd have to setup your own DNS server and learn how to configure and maintain it.

    Re: Help with DNS

Many models of broadband routers such as the D-Link line have a feature which allows you to update your DHCP information to popular services such as Dynamic DNS (dyndns). All you do is configure your router with your dynamic dns account name and password and the router automagically logs into the service to update their name servers with your dynamic dns information. That way your home network is identifiable by the dynamic dns name that you selected. This is a great solution for some people whose ISP does not provide static IP addressing.
