Notepad.exe for HTML.
Microsoft Word for everything else.

Bonjour, je m'appelle Dewayne. Je vous présente Stephanie. Elle est ma fiancée et elle est la personne la plus étonnante que j'ai rencontrée dans ma vie. Je suis très heureuse.
:]
Tonight. Here's a god damn song. For you god damn people.
Notepad2! Nano! Emacs! Why pay when you can get nice programs that do not cost anything?

Programmer's Notepad for Web stuff, Code::Blocks for C++, JCreator (lite edition) for Java, Poderosa for command line (not really a text editor, just wanted to list it).
Free stuff for me.

Yep, I believe in opensource softwares and usually use Notepad in Windows and nano in Ubuntu....as Bryon said why use paid software when you can get a better one for free...;)
I voted EditPlus but I like Textpad as well.
In fact, any editor that has syntax highlighting and block-indenting is good (imho). Autocompletion is nice as well, but not a must. (I like Dreamweaver's feature to close the last opened tag when you type </)
I think all those HTML-helper features are overkill, and useless if you already know HTML good.
(P-S: Mac = BBEdit and TextMate all the way)

MS Word 2007 for most stuff, Notepad for plain text documents.
Left.
