If you wanted someone to download something from a direct link to the source...it there a code for the browser to tell it to download...or do you just use the regular <a href..and hope the browswer downloads it....

depends on the file type... I know there is an apache thing that will tell it to download it, but seeing as you don't have server access, put all your download files in a .zip file, and then just use <a href="mydownload.zip">hfdsjka</a> and it should work
