Help Installing Zen Cart to Main Directory

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to install Zen Cart to my main directory using fantastico? I am getting errors telling me I already had an public_html folder, so I tried renaming it, but the installation throws back loads of errors & doesn't work.

    :eek4:

Rename that directory back to public_html. It needs to stay that way, because if you rename it, the server will not recognize it as the place with your files. public_html is your main directory here at x10.

Most of the software in fantastico is outdated. Download the latest version of Zen Cart from http://www.zen-cart.com/, and follow the instructions to install it. If you are having trouble installing it, I can help you out.

    Hope this helps

Re: Help Installing Zen Cart to Main Directory

Some help would be great! I've renamed my public_html back. I'm not new to Zen Cart, I have it running on another host, but I can't seem to get it installed on this one.

I've uploaded the most recent version of Zen Cart to my /www/ by ftp.

Then going to my site I get the first page of the installer fine, and the second page works, but when I click on agree to terms & press continue I just get a blank scree with the address bar showing http://mysite.x10hosting.com/zc_inst...nguage=english

Any idea what might be wrong? I don't have this problem if I install it in a directory, but as I need my shop front to be my homepage I need to install to the main directory. Maybe I show be putting my files somewhere else? I think I'm somewhat confused because I've never had a host which has given me anything other than an empty space to upload to, the x10hosting shows loads of directories & I don't understand what they are all for.

Where is your site located? You need to upload those files to public_html, not www. Public_html is where all of the files you want public, aka Zen Cart, are supposed to be. No other directory.

If you need more help, be prepared to create accounts for me to access your FTP and anything else required for installation, and also to give me your MySQL information. You can do this by private messenging. You can trust me with your info, and delete my accounts after I am done.
