Please people, check your site with Opera

Hello, everyone, this is an "im bord" post.

anyways, i cannot count the number of times i have visited a site in opera, for the layout to be funny, ie, css is funny, javascript does not work, map tag not working, etc.

Even the x10hosting website has a coiuple issues with opera and css.

Conisdering opera is one of the few browsers to pass the acid test.

Javascript for it works about the same as IE, but because IE 6 and firefox(2 very common brosers) don't follow the standerd for css exactly, people modify it so it works on them, but don't realise that it doesn't work on opera.

and please do not tell me to use firefox people. 85% of the people i talk to say use firefox. basicly you have Firefox < IE6 < Opera. reasons are: even latest firefox has memmory leaks, and i leave browsers open for days or weeks on end. IE6, with simple ajustments to security and antivirus, ie is 4x faster than firefox and just as safe, with about 10x less memmory usage, and opera has tabs and doesn't lockup while playing wow.

    i feel better already.

Firefox and IE are the 2 main browsers that people are using. I know if my sites work well in those 2 browsers I'm happy. Its not worth troubleshooting and spending time fixing the errors for these other browsers for the 1% of traffic you get that use those browsers.

i genrally don't have problems, but problems come up with some sites that have complicated css and javascript, sometimes things don't work well, or at all.

I have to disagree with OP about Firefox. I've used IE6, IE7 and FF, and FF is 10x faster, 100x more secure and 1000x more stable since it is not constantly using system-critical files. I've never had any listed memory leak problems and it's NEVER locked up on me when gaming or running other apps. FF also has tabs, IE tabs for sites like ijji and Windows update and way more plugins like Cookie Editor and Firebug. IE uses more memory in the explorer process and follows hardly any HTML standards.

... ie7 sucks. ie6 is faster on my computer. ie6 loads instantly almost, ff takes about 20 seconds to load.
second: firefox is not as secure as people seem to assume.
third, fierfox locks up all the time. i don't use any plugins for any browser.
    Firefox memmory: 36 mb
    Ie memmory: 14 mb

im using ff 2, and it not exactly stable.

i have left opera open for about 29 hours, its at 100 mb of ram, theres 9 tabs open. if i did that with firefox, it would be at about 350 mb.

Meh, get a good enough computer and you won't even notice load times anymore. Both FF2 and ie7 take up a whole second to load on mine :P

    Easiest 70 points you'll make on x10

If you're worried about how much RAM a browser uses, then it may be time for an upgrade.

I, personally, don't test in Opera anymore. It's basically a waste of time at this point, due to the reasons Conor listed above.

Opera is a better browser but nobody know about it.

Make it for IE and for Firefox and you will be just fine.

Well I checked mine is IE6, IE7, Firefox, Safari and now Opera. So far so good. I just downloaded Opera. It's OK. No "WOW" but it's another one to check my site against, I guess.
