How to remove banner in joomla

hello can any one tell me how to remove banner on my site. I have installed joomla but there is a big banner on the site naming joomla. I have seen one of my frnds using joomla with out that banner he kept his own. I tried almost every thing but failed. I was just able to change advertisement banner, the mini one.
i am using version 1.0.13

plz help i will give 5 credits if any one gives me a solution

From your file manager go to Joomla folder---->themes---->yourtheme----->images. Inside it you will find a file name header_short.jpg, just replace it with your own banner keeping the same file name.

thank u for the response but there is no folder called 'themes' in my joomla folder instead i have found header_short.jpg in templates forlder
i have changed it but no change in the banner.
i am giving 5 credits to u

The folder might be templates and you need to change the file in the template that you are currently using.
