cPanel issues and Joomla File Manager issues

    cPanel user name: tobbs
    subdomain: tobbs.pcriot.com
    hosting package: Ad-Free (Absolut)

I've tried both my subdomain URL with :2082 and absolut.x10hosting.com:2082 both to no avail. I've even added port forwarding for both TCP and UDP 2082 on my router just in case (since we've had port forwarding issues recently). It just times out.

In other news, Joomla (1.5) will not upload files through its file manager. I don't want to be forced to use FTP when the File Manager in Joomla is very good and right under my nose.
After files finish "uploading", I get the administrator panel log in screen. The files do not actually upload. Something tells me this is because of a server configuration setting being set improperly in the config. However, this problem has not been consistent (it didn't work for a long time, then worked for a week, now not working again). I'm pretty sure this isn't something I did interfering.
EDIT: I use Firefox. Haven't tried IE or Safari yet.

This problem combination leaves me with no way to upload files. (FTP has proven to be inconsistent for me in the past with timeouts.)

If you can help, I would really appreciate it.
    Thanks!

    First issue:
I'm able to access cPanel fine for your account. If you are unable to even try to login most likely something on your end is blocking port 2082

    Second Issue:
We are unable to support 3rd party scripts unless you have a specific error to help us. Saying it doesn't work gives us nothing to go on or to look into. Your best bet would be to seek help from the script creator, if they can tell you what is wrong then we can look into it.

After a lot of fumbling around with the router, I got 2082 forwarded properly.

Is there anybody else who can chime in here with experience of what it takes in the first place to make the File Manager work properly? It has worked before, but only briefly.

Did you set your FTP account during the installation correctly? Joomla's file manager for 1.5 uses an ftp connection and those must be set correctly for the file manager to work.

    Hm, I forgot about that.

I'm pretty sure it's set up right but I'll double check and let you know.

Edit: I actually had it turned off. I'll turn it on and update.

Edit again: No dice. It appears to log me out when I attempt an upload. I don't know what could cause that. Going back into the Global Config also shows that FTP has been turned off again.

    *Bump*
    This has not been resolved.

Any other ideas that could be causing this problem?

Have you any restriction settings or anything preventing the FTP file Manager (j! uses FTP) from accessing your server? make sure your username and password and ftp server are correct. those are a few common errors.

Re: cPanel issues and Joomla File Manager issues

Joomla's use of FTP is not required. It's an option.

It has worked before without FTP use. When I did set the FTP, it still did not work and the settings went back to normal.

I don't know where to look to fix this, so it would help if someone could guide me on where to look.
