Nucleus error

I am trying to upload a 33.1kB jpeg image as part of a post in my nucleus CMS, but I get the following error: Bad upload request (. This has occured both in the 3.32 version installed via Fantastico and the 3.33 version when I upload and configure it myself via FTP. I have checked the files and the permissions are set to allow user to write to the directory where uploads would go. Any ideas what is missing?

nope. Still have the error. It's a 33kB jpeg and it won't upload. guess the problem lies in php.ini, but i can't seem to locate that file.
